 The Pasefika LotuMoui Grant Scheme The Counties-Manukau District Health Board (CMDHB) is pleased to announce the opening of the Pasefika LoutMoui Grant Scheme to Pacific churches in the Counties Manukau District.
WHAT IS THE AIM OF THE GRANT?
The Grant Scheme provides opportunities for Pacific churches in Counties Manukau to develop and implement health promotion and disease prevention community projects that will support their Pacific congregations to live healthy and active lifestyles.
The vision of the LotuMoui Health Programme is: A vision of prosperity: "to have a good safe journey" that holistically encompasses physical health, material wealth, emotional security, spiritual wholeness and the wellbeing of families and the community.
The key themes of the LotuMoui Health Programme are:
• Shifting paradigms and changing mindsets towards healthy living • Healing and wholeness for Pacific peoples • Working collectively towards a shared vision of health and prosperity
The Grant aims to provide Pacific church organisations with a ‘one-off' payment to implement healthier lifestyle changes for its congregations. The District Health Board will work in partnership with successful applicants to look at ways of ensuring that healthy lifestyle programmes are sustainable for their congregations at the completion of the Grant.
WHO CAN APPLY? To apply you must meet the following criteria:
• A church organisation • Your church must be situated in the Counties-Manukau district • You must have an Incorporated Trust or Charitable society status • The Majority of your congregation is of Pacific descent
WHAT IS THE AMOUNT? There are two levels of funding available at the amounts of $3,000 and $5,000. Applications should be for no more that $5,000.
CRITERIA To be eligible for the Grant you must supply the following information with your Application Form:
• Confirmation of your GST number • Evidence of your legal status and infrastructure • Programme Plan (no more than three pages)
PROCESS OF SELECTION From the written information supplied on your Application Form, a District Health Board selection panel will prepare a short-list of organisations for consideration. Organisations will be short-listed on the basis of:
• Infrastructure of organisation (charitable trust, incorporated society) • Locality of where proposed healthy lifestyle programmes will be provided • Experience and skills to provide health promotion and disease prevention initiatives • Demonstrates an ability to work with other Church groups or Pacific community groups • Linkages to District Health Board's strategic priorities for Pacific peoples (information on these is attached) • Responsiveness to the needs of Pacific peoples • Demonstrates a willingness to work with the District Health Board and implement healthy lifestyle changes with its congregation For churches that have previously received funding as part of the LotuMoui Health Programme, the District Health Board will also consider:
• Your monitoring reports; and, • Participation in the LotuMoui health programme
If your application is successful,we will meet with you to formally discuss and agree the desired outcomes of your programme and a process for monitoring your progress.

Counties Manukau District Health Board (CMDHB) is pleased to provide Pacific churches in the Counties Manukau District with an opportunity to take part in the LotuMoui Games Initiative 2008. Building on the previous successes of the LotuMoui Symposium, this annual event targets the 18,000 + Pacific church leaders, congregation members and families that are part of the 79 churches involved in the LotuMoui programme to participate in the 8 week event.
What is the LotuMoui Games? Picture the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics with Pacific churches in Counties Manukau! The LotuMoui Games Initiative is based on a similar concept and brings people from the Pacific community together to participate in inter-church activities consisting of:
• Capacity building and training for participating churches • An opening ceremony • 8-week inter-church build up of preliminary rounds of sports and fun family games • Family Games Day Celebration, acknowledgements, prize giving and closing ceremony
The Games initiative is not intended to be only for competitive sporting athletes as its focus is more on everyone being involved and participating in some type of activity.
Aim: The Games Initiative aims to:
• Increase physical activity levels for Pacific peoples in Counties Manukau; • Create environments that promote and support physical activity and sustainable lifestyle change for Pacific communities; and, • Build and strengthen relationships with a focus on Pacific families. Eligibility: To be part of the LotuMoui Games Initiative you must:
• Be a church organisation • Your church must be situated in the Counties-Manukau district • The majority of your congregation is of Pacific descent
